in piazza navona the festivities continue late into the night. some performers and vendors leave at sunset, but they are quickly replaced with others. this guy was awesome with his bass guitar.
This is awesome!! Definitely an amazing pic... I always look at some street candids and say "it's from behind, no good", BUT this one on the contrary makes it perfect being from behind! Such a great job, as ~khizarmalik said, truly wonderful!
My first point of call when leaving this and the following comments on your work has to be an apology for being brief, probably technical and thus sounding uncaring. It is not meant that way. I have been organising a project "backstage" and neglected my watch list, thus deviations have built up and I really want to comment on them all even though I have only allowed myself a 10th of the time I normally would. I do apologise for this and want you to know that my comments are from the heart, true and completely apologetic. I love your work and that's why I watch you (there arn't that many, maybe I am elitist, I hope not).
Anyway, your artwork. It is just that, a wonderful piece or art. I usually look at these kinds of street images and think "snapshot, meaningless" or "moment missed" or even "coward..." but in this case I don't believe so. A man sitting that straight, that square is far more interesting from behind, guessing what he has with him, imagining his face and his circumstances for being there. It is far more interesting and makes me much more alert. I love your use of DOF in this shot, to really make him stand out. It is especially important in that it gains you that extra detail that is needed when you are using such a high contrast subject as a dark jacket and a light hat like that. This is simply a great pose, made interesting and a good use of light. Wonderful work.
i've been at this place.
great to chill with friends
at night and listen to the
music. I like the shot. because
you shot him from behind.
no face! great thing!
For some reason it reminds me of that painting of a farmer and his wife in front of a barn ("American Gothic"?) Why is the man there, sitting on a bench playing his guitar? What does he look like from the front? Did anyone appreciate his music?
