thought i would submit a happier pigeon picture after Death.

got a few shots of these guys at breakfast, but i think this one of them finally leaving is the best one. i just lay there on the sand and they forgot all about me and came really close. this is at ~17mm so you can imagine. not the strongest composition, but they took off so suddenly and i had just one click.

eos 3. 17-40L at ~17mm. trix 400.

fullview for the beauty of trix film :)

Daily Deviation

Given 2006-01-01

Alive by *carvinganish I think I'm a sucker for bird photos. Dunno. The different stages of flight of all of the different birds really got me. Then I full-viewed it. Not only ... this deviant uses FILM!!!!!! Good on him! ;) (Suggested by `northengirl and Featured by `cweeks)

this photo caught my eye! love it!

your photo death, may be removed my deviantart staff as it has a dead animal. just warning you :) and dont be angery at them ;) they had trouble with a guy posting photos of dead bunnies a few years ago, one rule for one has to be the same for another :) thought i'd let you know.

Serene... the beauty of Tri-X is revealed in full view, as you said. The horizon's a bit tilted but the sheer contrast of the pigeons against the cloudy sky makes up for it. Nice!
:iconcarvinganish:
i dont think the compo is the strongest...but not because the horizon is tilted...such "rules" are ok when you're shooting landscapes for landscape sake...but it wouldn't bother me here..

:)

this is pretty cool, especially being so wide. they musta been practically crawling on you. and tri-x rocks. i still like ilford, but tri-x is still indeed quite magnificent.

yeah, im still trying to figure out which i like better...since i don't process myself yet, i haven't noticed any nuances just the general look and feel...currently i use both delta 400 and trix...just depends on the day :)
:iconcarvinganish:
thanks for the tip. they haven't removed it yet...so i guess i'll just leave it be for now :P

I know that you say that it's happier... but I immediately thought of something somber when I saw this, without having previously seen "death" XD Very nice shot tho! I love how you captured them! I know how hard it is to catch birds in motion XD

:iconcarvinganish:
hmm, actually it is kinda sombre isn't it? i wouldn't have called it alive if it weren't for the death shot..

:)

Now that I view it a second time, I think the tilted horizon does help - it enhances the motion of the birds' flight.
